PowerStrand 6x19 Class Galvanized Wire Ropes are supplied with a dry lube. Dry lube is minimal application of oil during the stranding and closing process that allows the wire rope to be manufactured. The end result is a clear galvanized finish that is slightly oily to the touch. While galvanizing serves to keep the individual wires from corroding and seizing, it is just a zinc coating. Ropes should be periodically inspected & re-lubed to ensure wire to wire friction is reduced to extend service life.
Steel cores wire ropes are used to add strength to the rope, provide resistance to drum crushing and where low stretch is required.
The Crosby Group manufactures Vitalife Wire Rope Lubricants that are specifically formulated for this purpose. It is available in spray cans and in liquid form. Click Here
