Procraft V-bar Traction Chains
These chains are V-bar reinforced and intended for use in snow, ice, and mud. V-bar Tire Chains can be ordered with or without cams. Cams allow for easy tensioning of chains. If ordered without cams, we recommend the use of adjusters to help keep the chains under tension.
Made to Canadian specifications, key difference compared to US Spec 2800 (V-bar Singles), and 4800 (V-bar Triples) lies in the side chain, cam assemblies, cross chain hooks and cross chain widths
- 5/16 inch side chain versus 9/32 inch side chain on US Spec to prevent stretch
- 3/8 inch cross chain hooks versus 5/16 inch on US Spec to prevent hook twist
- Thicker Cams and connecting links to prevent bent links and stretch
- Wider cross chains allow chains to accomodate winter tire treads better by coming farther down sidewall preventing chains from riding on hooks
These chains are overbuilt, and components used are all oversized. Ensure vehicle has sufficient clearance to use these chains. Second only to Studded chains for height profile off the tire, ride is rough, but the V-bars on these chains dig in and grip the ice where cables and other less agressive chains get bogged down and spin.
Typical uses would be for deep snow, ice, and mud. Industrial applications would be for tow trucks, road clearing, forestry road access, and for off-road oil-field access.
Best way to find chain size: Enter tire size into top right "Enter Keyword or Part Number" field.
ie: 11-22.5 or 11R22.5
Depending on tire size, results may show 2 chains of same type - choose larger size if being used with heavy tread or snow tires
!!! Due to variations in tire manufactures, and the geometry of the suspensions in many trucks - it is imperative that you find out that there is enough clearance for chains to be used. It is also important to install chains prior to actual use and examine for proper fit. If using on front wheel for steering it is neccessary to turn wheels all the way to the left, and right to make sure chains will clear all components, and body work when vehicle is in motion. !!!
